‘Dracula’ extends its record-setting run
BLACKPINK member Jennie and Australian singer Tame Impala climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their collaboration “Dracula,” Billboard reported on the 23rd.
The song rose one place from No. 6 and matched its previous peak on the Hot 100, the main U.S. ranking of popular songs. It has now remained in the top 10 for 17 consecutive weeks, extending Jennie’s record for the longest such run by a K-pop artist.
The previous benchmarks were BTS’ “Butter,” which spent 15 weeks in the top 10, and “APT.” by Jennie’s BLACKPINK bandmate Rosé and Bruno Mars, which logged 14 weeks.
Long-running success across Billboard charts
“Dracula” was first released as a Tame Impala solo song in October, followed by a duet version featuring Jennie in February. Kevin Parker, Jennie, Sarah Aarons and Carly Gibert worked on the song, with Parker serving as producer.
The track also continued its extended reign on Billboard’s genre charts. It has led Hot Dance/Electronic Songs for 37 weeks, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs for 19 weeks and Adult Pop Airplay for nine consecutive weeks.
Other K-pop acts on the U.S. charts
Several other K-pop artists appeared on this week’s Billboard rankings. BLACKPINK’s Lisa placed No. 93 on the Hot 100 with “SaWaDiKa,” while KATSEYE’s “Animal” ranked No. 28 and “Hootie Frutti” came in at No. 91.
On the Billboard 200 albums chart, Stray Kids’ “This & That” was the highest-ranking K-pop release at No. 17. KATSEYE placed three albums on the chart: “WILD” at No. 22, “BEAUTIFUL CHAOS” at No. 160 and “SIS (Soft Is Strong)” at No. 191.
