New song marks Universal Studios Japan anniversary

Japanese singer-songwriter Vaundy released “Destiny Journeys” on Sept. 30 as the official theme song celebrating the 25th anniversary of Universal Studios Japan.

The track appeared a day earlier on the official “Vaundy - Topic” YouTube channel, where its listing identifies the release date as Sept. 30, 2026. The video had received more than 77,000 views.

First solo concerts in South Korea sell out

The release followed Vaundy’s first solo concerts in South Korea, held Sept. 19 and 20 at Inspire Arena in Incheon, west of Seoul. Both shows sold out, drawing a combined audience of 30,000.

The concerts were part of his 2026 “HORO” Asia arena tour, which included nine performances across Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Fukuoka and Taipei. Every show on the five-city tour sold out. Vaundy departed South Korea through Gimpo International Airport on Sept. 22.

Mass singalong spreads online

Footage from the Seoul concerts has extended the shows’ reach online. A live performance of “Kaiju no Hanauta,” released Sept. 27, surpassed 725,000 views. Other clips highlighting the Korean audience’s mass singalong — a familiar and often highly coordinated feature of K-pop concert culture — drew between about 138,000 and 196,000 views.

Searches related to Vaundy’s South Korean visit, concerts and songs, including “Kaiju no Hanauta” and “Odoriko,” also circulated online.

Who is Vaundy?

Born June 6, 2000, Vaundy began his career in 2019 by posting self-produced music online. He writes, composes, arranges and produces his songs and also directs videos, moving across hip-hop, R&B, rock and synth-pop.

“Kaiju no Hanauta,” which he performed in Seoul, is one of his signature songs and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
