PUBG Sponsor Pauses Promotions

Sports results, entertainment news and a gaming controversy dominated Google’s trending searches in South Korea on Sept. 20, 2026. Baekeok Coffee, a Korean coffee franchise, ranked first after fallout from PUBG Asia Stars 2026 spread to the tournament’s sponsors.

The dispute centered on allegations of “stream sniping,” known in Korean gaming culture as “bang-play,” in which a competitor is accused of watching a broadcast to gain information unavailable through normal play. All Korean participants sat out the competition. Baekeok Coffee began temporarily suspending related commercials, menu promotions and events while it reviews the facts and the organizer’s response. The company had not terminated its sponsorship agreement.

Son Heung-min Lifts Interest in LAFC

Los Angeles FC was the second-ranked search after South Korean star Son Heung-min recorded a goal and an assist against the San Jose Earthquakes. LAFC played at a numerical disadvantage but took the lead before conceding an equalizer in second-half stoppage time, settling for a 2-2 draw in Major League Soccer.

European soccer also generated heavy search traffic. Brazilian forward Raphinha ranked third after another hat trick helped FC Barcelona extend its winning streak in Spain’s La Liga to seven games. Headlines comparing his early-season scoring pace with Lionel Messi’s record added to the attention. Arsenal ranked eighth after the defending English champion lost 3-0 at Brighton, ending its season-opening winning streak. A late foul by Declan Rice also drew notice.

UFC Results Lead the Day’s Biggest Search Volumes

South Korean mixed martial artist Choi Doo-ho and the UFC each registered about 2,000 searches, the largest approximate totals among the top 10 terms. Choi ranked fourth after losing to Patricio “Pitbull” in the first round of their UFC 331 featherweight bout, ending his bid for a fourth consecutive victory and a return to the rankings. UFC ranked fifth as readers searched for the event’s broader results and fighter pay, including Arman Tsarukyan’s late elbow-strike victory over Mauricio Ruffy.

The remaining searches reflected a mix of betting-related coverage and Korean entertainment. “Toto,” a term commonly associated in Korea with sports wagering, ranked sixth amid articles questioning match-analysis figures and settlement standards. Singer Choi Ye-na placed seventh following television and concert coverage. Entertainer Yoo Young-woo ranked ninth after a broadcast showed him buying a 510,000-won Korean beef meal for Lee Sun-min and RESCENE member Won, while also discussing his busier schedule and repeated requests to sing.

The Korean drama “Flex X Cop 2” rounded out the list at No. 10. The series ended with Ahn Bo-hyun’s character defeating a villain played by Yoo Seung-ho and posted a series-high 11.8% audience rating.

The rankings came from Google Trends’ real-time list for South Korea. Google’s search-volume figures are approximate and may use different measurement thresholds, meaning they should not be treated as directly comparable totals.
