Search interest in the Korean word for “trailer” surged Oct. 1 as previews for several upcoming movies and series arrived at once, drawing viewers to projects ranging from a snowbound Korean mystery to Netflix horror and major Hollywood releases.

The trend did not point to a single title. It reflected overlapping interest in the Korean film “Heavy Snow,” the Netflix series “Kkul Alba,” “The Cat in the Hat” and Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday.”

A Mystery at an Isolated Train Station

South Korean distributor Showbox released the first trailer for “Heavy Snow” on Oct. 1 and confirmed that the movie would open in theaters in November.

Directed by Hong Eui-jeong and Park Sun-woo, the mystery drama stars Kim Yoon-seok as Gapsu, a stationmaster nearing retirement, and Koo Kyo-hwan as Hyeon-taek, the man set to replace him. The story begins when a mysterious body is discovered at a rural train station cut off by heavy snowfall.

The trailer opens with Hyeon-taek remarking, “It’s really quiet here.” The mood quickly darkens as Gapsu accuses him of murder and the two men become involved in a physical confrontation.

A Job Offer That Looks Too Good to Be True

Netflix also released a teaser poster and trailer for “Kkul Alba,” an eight-episode mystery series combining horror and fantasy. The Korean title uses a popular expression for an unusually easy or desirable part-time job. The series is scheduled to premiere Friday, Oct. 30.

Directed by Kim Da-min and written by Kyung Min-sun and Lee Shin-ji, the series stars Lee Jae-wook, Go Min-si, Kim Min-ha and Lee Hee-joon. Han Jun-hee serves as executive producer.

The teaser follows Hyeok-jun, a young man struggling with debt who visits an employment agency and is offered a job paying 50 times the minimum hourly wage. The opportunity soon leads to bizarre events, including an attack by a swarm of moths and the appearance of a suspicious clown.

Hollywood Titles Add to the Attention

Hollywood releases also helped propel trailer interest. As of Oct. 2, the third Korean trailer for “The Cat in the Hat” had recorded 1,576,533 views over the previous seven days. The movie is scheduled to open in South Korea on Nov. 6, 2026, with actor Jo Jung-suk making his first attempt at Korean-language voice dubbing.

A Doctor Doom-related video from the channel About Marvel received 1,215,006 views. “Avengers: Doomsday,” directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, features Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom and is scheduled for release Dec. 18. An official Marvel Studios trailer released July 20 drew 503 million views in its first 24 hours.

Among the Korean productions, the first “Heavy Snow” trailer recorded 973,133 views, while the official “Kkul Alba” teaser reached 903,279. A fan-made main trailer for “Truth in the Barrel” received 427,268 views.
