Baseball victory drives sports searches
Asian Games baseball and artificial intelligence products were among the leading topics on Google in South Korea on Sept. 22, 2026, alongside searches about weather, housing applications and the stock market. The top-ranked term was “batter,” after South Korea defeated Taiwan 5-0 in baseball. South Korean hitters initially struggled with the opposing starter’s control and unconventional delivery before Park Joon-soon added a run-scoring double in the seventh inning. Interest also grew as the starting lineup for the team’s game against Hong Kong was released.
The broad term “game” ranked fourth amid interest in Asian Games esports. Tencent Esports was reported to be supplying competition technology for esports events at the 2026 Asian Games.
Meta and Google fuel AI interest
“Meta Muse” ranked second. Muse, a personal AI agent from Meta, reached No. 1 among free downloads on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store in the United States 13 days after its release. The service drew attention for handling tasks such as sending emails, booking travel and shopping online. Meta shares closed at $741.24, up 11.43% from the previous session, while expectations for stronger CPU demand also brought attention to semiconductor companies.
Google’s Gemini placed third but recorded the largest approximate search volume on the list, at more than 10,000 searches. Google and Qualcomm unveiled the “Googlebook,” a laptop designed around Gemini Intelligence and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform. The device was presented as a Gemini-based computer combining Android and ChromeOS.
Weather, housing and stocks round out the list
The Korea Meteorological Administration’s Weather Nuri service ranked fifth after the agency expanded its weather map from the Korean Peninsula to the entire world. The updated service allows users to view atmospheric flow and the direction and speed of rain clouds on a three-dimensional globe. It is available through the Weather Nuri website and the agency’s Weather Alert app. Demand for forecasts ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Korea’s major fall harvest celebration, also contributed to weather-related searches.
Cheongyak Home, South Korea’s official housing subscription platform, ranked sixth amid interest in apartment applications in the Dongtan area. “Calendar” placed seventh as users sought information on auspicious dates and times from Sept. 21 through Sept. 27.
Stock-related searches included SK Hynix at No. 8, as users looked for explanations for a sharp rise in the chipmaker’s shares, and Samsung Electronics at No. 10, amid reports about a 30 trillion won cash dividend and a Sept. 28 deadline tied to dividend eligibility. The Chosun Ilbo newspaper ranked ninth as searches rose around a political dispute involving comments by former minister and political commentator Rhyu Si-min and a response from Kim Min-seok.
The rankings came from Google Trends’ real-time data for South Korea. Google listed approximate search totals of more than 200 for “batter,” more than 100 for “Meta Muse,” more than 10,000 for “Gemini,” more than 2,000 for “game,” and more than 1,000 each for Weather Nuri and Cheongyak Home. Google’s ranking and estimated search-volume measures use different standards, meaning their order does not necessarily correspond to the size of the reported totals.
