Action thriller draws more than 112,000 moviegoers

“Reawakened Man,” a South Korean action film about an unemployed young man who returns from the dead, ranked fifth at the country’s overall box office from Oct. 5 through Oct. 11. It placed third among Korean films during the same period.

The film drew 112,610 moviegoers for the week, bringing its cumulative admissions to 302,537 following its Sept. 30, 2026, release. Weekly ticket sales totaled 1.18 billion won.

A job seeker who cannot stay dead

The story follows Seok-hwan, a brash job seeker whose only apparent qualification is his unfounded confidence. He discovers that he can come back to life 72 hours after dying, an ability that soon makes him the target of a mysterious pursuit.

The premise draws on the familiar South Korean figure of the “job seeker,” a term commonly used for young adults preparing for the country’s highly competitive hiring process.

Baik directs ensemble cast

Baik directed the 101-minute film, whose cast includes Koo Kyo-hwan, Shin Seung-ho, Kang Ki-young, Kim Si-a and Kim Sung-ryoung. Baik’s previous credits include “Believer 2” and “The Beauty Inside,” while Koo has appeared in “Escape” and other Korean productions.

The movie carries a South Korean rating restricting it to viewers ages 15 and older. It was produced by CJ ENM Studios’ Yong Film branch and distributed by Lotte Entertainment. Production and box-office information came from the Korean Film Council, while the official synopsis was provided by TMDb.
