What Igatan F is used for

Igatan F Capsule is a nonprescription medicine made by Myung In Pharm in South Korea. According to the country’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety drug information service, it is used as an adjunct treatment for gingivitis following periodontal care and for mild to moderate periodontitis. It is not a substitute for professional dental treatment.

Dosage and precautions

Adults should take one capsule three times a day after meals and follow the stated dosage. The medicine should not be given to children younger than 15 or taken by people with hereditary conditions including galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Patients should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if they have experienced allergic reactions to medicines or cosmetics, have an egg allergy, are prone to allergies or have a known sensitivity to Yellow No. 5. Anyone taking other medication should also seek professional advice before use.

Possible side effects

Use should be stopped immediately and a doctor or pharmacist contacted if symptoms such as rash, redness, diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting or mouth sores occur. The official guidance also warns of rare but severe skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Warning signs can include fever, widespread redness or itching, bloodshot eyes, mouth sores, blistering or burn-like swelling affecting the skin or the lining of the mouth and throat.

Igatan F should be stored at room temperature and kept out of children’s reach. This information is based on public data from South Korea’s drug safety regulator and does not replace medical diagnosis, treatment or advice from a doctor, dentist or pharmacist.
