K-pop acts expand their VMA nominations
BTS, BLACKPINK, CORTIS and KATSEYE have been named nominees for best group at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, according to an additional nominee list posted on the awards’ official website.
The latest nomination gives BTS three nods, including song of the year and best K-pop. The group previously won best group for four consecutive years, from 2019 through 2022. CORTIS and KATSEYE also received three nominations each this year.
Jennie and KATSEYE compete for song of summer
KATSEYE’s “HOOTIE FRUTTI” was nominated for song of summer. “DRACULA,” a collaboration between BLACKPINK member Jennie and Australian artist Tame Impala, is also in the category.
The nominations give BLACKPINK recognition as a group while Jennie competes separately for her collaboration. KATSEYE is likewise nominated in both group and song categories.
A major U.S. awards stage
The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards are scheduled to take place on the 27th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The additional nominations place several K-pop artists in competition across prominent categories at the American music awards show.
