BTS returned to the iHeartRadio Music Festival for the first time in six years, closing the event’s opening night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sept. 18.
According to the group’s label, BigHit Music, the seven-member K-pop act performed four songs as the night’s final artist. The two-day festival lineup also included LE SSERAFIM, Cardi B, Snoop Dogg and Benson Boone. LE SSERAFIM was scheduled to perform Sept. 19, becoming the first K-pop girl group to appear at the festival.
A New Chapter for BTS
BTS presented the performance under the concept “BTS 2.0,” signaling a new chapter for the group. The set opened with “SWIM,” the title track from its fifth full-length album, “ARIRANG,” followed by “2.0,” “MIC DROP” and “FYA.”
Video projections, lighting and special effects accompanied the four-song set. The visuals moved from rippling water and the Las Vegas skyline to a tunnel opening into space and seven comets falling into a desert.
A Message to American Fans
The performance marked BTS’ first appearance at the major U.S. radio festival since 2020. Addressing ARMY, the name of the group’s global fan base, BTS called them “the best fans in the world” and said it was remarkable to hear the audience sing along to all the Korean-language lyrics.
