Three Sold-Out Shows in Lima
BTS drew more than 151,500 fans across three sold-out concerts in Lima, marking the K-pop group’s first performances in Peru, its label BigHit Music said on the 11th.
The group performed its “Arirang” world tour at Estadio San Marcos on the 7th, 9th and 10th. Organizers initially scheduled two concerts, but added a third after tickets sold out shortly after sales began. The additional show also sold out.
Fans sang along in Korean and cheered as the members took the stage. BTS told the crowd “Los amo,” Spanish for “I love you,” and praised the audience’s energy. “It makes us wonder why we only came to Peru now,” the group said.
Jimin, whose birthday was approaching on the 13th, said he would always remember the strong support the group receives from fans “on the other side of the world.”
Officials Forecast Tourism Boost
Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism projected that the concerts would bring more than 50,000 visitors to Lima and generate about 25.1 billion won in tourism-related economic activity.
The Lima Chamber of Commerce offered a broader estimate, projecting as much as 200 million soles, or about 78 billion won, in economic activity connected to the concerts. BigHit Music said the performances helped energize both tourism and the local economy.
South American Tour Continues
BTS is scheduled to perform next in Santiago, Chile, on the 14th, 16th and 17th. Concerts in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil, are also planned.
