HYBE will release “2026 BTS Dalmajung,” a new collection of official BTS merchandise created with South Korea’s National Museum Foundation, on the 29th.
First introduced in 2021, Dalmajung combines Korean traditional culture with BTS’ artistic identity. The fourth installment draws on “munjado,” a form of folk painting from Korea’s Joseon era in which illustrations are incorporated into or arranged around written characters to convey symbolic meanings.
Traditional symbols meet BTS lyrics
The central motif is “hyungjeuk daegil,” a Korean expression used in the lyrics of “Aliens,” a song from BTS’ “ARIRANG” album. The paradoxical phrase suggests that something appearing ominous can ultimately lead to great fortune.
HYBE said the collection connects that message with traditional themes associated with munjado, including happiness, filial devotion and longevity. The 13 products are intended to convey wishes for good fortune, peace and a better everyday life.
Items include a miniature desk broom symbolizing the gathering of blessings and a ceramic jar associated with dispelling negative energy and attracting prosperity.
Seoul pop-up store
HYBE will operate a pop-up store on the first floor of its headquarters in Seoul’s Yongsan district from the collection’s release date through the 11th of the following month.
